2024 Lutheridge Helene Relief Trip Update
As many of you know, the Lutheridge Camp & Conference Center in Arden, NC—our venue for the 2025 Christian Men’s Conference—was impacted by Hurricane Helene. Located just outside Asheville, Lutheridge faced the storm’s high winds and intense microbursts, which caused significant damage across much of the campus. Thankfully, most of the building damage is repairable, and the Lutheridge team is hard at work, making steady progress toward full restoration.
We’re pleased to share that Lutheridge will be ready to welcome us starting February 7, 2025. The buildings designated for our use sustained only minor damage from fallen trees, and repairs are on track to be completed well before the conference.
When the men scheduled for the 2024 Fall Hike heard about the storm’s impact, they decided to step up and support Lutheridge. With hiking off the table, 17 men organized a mission trip on October 10 to help clear the campus. Equipped with thousands of gallons of water and fuel, chainsaws, and other gear, they joined forces with “The Lumberjacks,” a dedicated group from the Lutheridge community. Together, these teams cleared the main roads and parking lots of storm debris over a span of three days, utilizing two 12” Vermeer chippers to turn fallen trees into mulch.
Several members of the Christian Men’s Conference Planning Team were among this volunteer group. We returned to Lutheridge on November 1 for our primary planning retreat, and it was encouraging to walk the campus and witness the progress firsthand.
We are confident that Lutheridge will not only be ready for our upcoming conference
but will continue to serve as a beacon of faith and fellowship for years to come.
God is good!
